The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) invited community members to attend a public meeting about the US 64 Hogback Rockfall Mitigation Project in San Juan County on Monday, June 8, 2026. The meeting was held at the Nenahnezad Chapter House in Fruitland, New Mexico. At the meeting, they provided a short presentation, followed by an open discussion where attendees could ask questions and offer feedback.

The project area is located on US 64, about 8 miles east of Shiprock and 2.5 miles west of Waterflow. The goal of the project is to improve safety by reducing the risk of falling rocks along the roadway using methods such as removing loose rocks and stabilizing slopes.
