Master community engagement skills

SANTA FE — Transportation professionals across New Mexico can learn to navigate public engagement requirements under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) through free virtual training sessions offered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) this summer.

The training series addresses a need for more effective and inclusive community engagement in transportation projects statewide, with a focus on NEPA compliance and best practices. Sessions target agencies, consultants, and professionals involved in transportation planning, projects, and programs.

What participants will learn:

  • Public engagement best practices under the National Environmental Policy Act.
  • Regulatory requirements and compliance strategies.
  • Techniques for meaningful community participation.
  • Methods to reach diverse New Mexico communities.

Training Schedule:

  • Thursday, July 17 — 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, August 19 — 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Each 2.5-hour session includes interactive elements, questions and answers, and open discussion with NMDOT experts.
