I-25 at Gibson Boulevard and interchange between Sunport Boulevard and Avenida Cesar Chavez
ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is hosting a public meeting for the I-25 Gibson Interchange Reconstruction Project on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at East San Jose Elementary School (415 Thaxton Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102). The project team is planning improvements to I-25 at the Gibson Boulevard interchange and between Sunport Boulevard and Avenida Cesar Chavez in Albuquerque. The purpose of the project is to update aging infrastructure, enhance safety and improve efficiency for all modes of transportation, including drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
The proposed design concepts will be presented for a new tight diamond interchange with braided ramps, frontage roads, and improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities. NMDOT invites you to hear from the project team and provide helpful input as the team refines the design.
A presentation and Q&A will be hosted at 5:30 p.m., with an open house format before and after and the project team available to answer questions.

A public comment period will be open from Feb. 22, 2024, through Mar 24, 2024. Comments can be submitted the following ways:

All comments received will be recorded and addressed by the project team and considered as the project progresses. Actual construction will not begin until 2027 following the I-25 Comanche/Montgomery Interchange. The project has a goal in fall 2025 to release an RFP to potentially design-builders.
