I-40 eastbound out of Gallup will be closed for night work
Nighttime travel is discouraged
MILAN – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) advises drivers heading eastbound on I-40 to plan accordingly. State Police in coordination with the NMDOT will shut down eastbound I-40 at Exit 26, from 10:00pm to 6:00am, on Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28, 2023. This will allow the contractor to perform mill and inlay work through the eastbound detour at Coolidge (Exit 44). Westbound traffic will not be affected.
Motorists are advised to seek accommodations in Gallup. Exiting eastbound out of the city will be prohibited during the planned night work. No detour is available. Traffic will not be permitted to use local routes.
The closure will be updated as conditions change. Stay up to date with the latest road conditions by calling 511 or visiting NMRoads.com.
