ADA COMPLIANCE
On April 24, 2024, the United States Department of Justice issued its final rule revising the regulation implementing Title II of the ADA regarding web and mobile application accessibility. New Mexico must fully comply with the final rule by April 24, 2026.
This rule covers compliance for all pages and digital assets, including HTML content, documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), multimedia, third-party integrations, and mobile responsiveness.
Creating accessible documents helps ensure everyone—including people with disabilities—can read, navigate, and understand your content, whether they’re using a screen reader, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technology.
This implementation is taking effect immediately to comply with the April 2026 deadline and to ensure that all documents for the intent of website publication or public distribution are compliant. This means to ensure that all new documents intended to be posted to the web or distributed to the public be ADA Title II/Section 508 compliant.
