In 2025, NMDOT will hold a half-day Tribal Transportation Safety Summit connected prior to the opening of the Transportation Safety Summit to feature workshops, plenary speakers, and open discussion on transportation safety issues specific to the tribes, pueblos, and nations of New Mexico.
Building Roads for Safety: A Tradeoff on Our Mobility
The Transportation Safety Summit brings together transportation professionals and other transportation safety stakeholders in developing strategies to eliminate traffic related fatalities on all public roadways and for all roadway users in New Mexico.
2025 Theme: Cutting Edge Strategies in Transportation Safety Culture
The 2025 Transportation Safety Summit promises to be full of interesting ideas to increase safety at all levels of transportation, presented by leaders in the transportation field. The program will include plenary sessions, concurrent workshops, and poster sessions.
The program has available multiple openings for selected workshop sessions. We invite those with experience and expertise in the following topics to submit a presentation proposal or poster session proposal.

The 2025 Transportation Safety Summit planning team strives to provide an event that is full of relevant and timely information to move forward New Mexico’s goal of zero traffic fatalities by 2050. We appreciate you taking the time to submit a proposal. Not all submissions will be selected.
The following selection criteria are used to determine which proposals are selected:
- Relevance of proposal to a summit topic and one of the workshop tracks (planning and design, construction, maintenance, and emergency or first response).
- The proposal demonstrates information centering transportation safety and development of participant’s knowledge and skills to increase focus on transportation safety.
- The proposal has clearly outlined learning objectives for the workshop session.
- Presenter and content add significant contributions to the professional dialogue and development of participant’s skills.
- The proposal is not repetitive with other presentations or workshops.
- All presentations should be 45 minutes in length.
