The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), invites you to join us for a public meeting on either of the two days mentioned below. During the public meetings, both agencies will display changes made to a previously presented bridge schematic.
The bridge option being presented proposes the elimination of the existing at-grade (surface) crossing at the Texas and New Mexico state line. The construction of this bridge would span the existing railroad line and allow the traveling public to experience continuous traffic flow without train delays. Alternative number two, which was previously presented to the communities as U.S. 60 and F.M. 292 Train Bypass Route, has been eliminated as a feasible design. The public is encouraged to participate and provide feedback about the proposed revisions.
1. Enhance the traffic mobility for emergency responders in the communities.
2. Provide a safer crossing for roadway users by eliminating the at-grade railroad crossing at the Texas and New Mexico state line.
3. Reduction of delayed traffic and congestion at streets attempting to enter US 60, US 70/84 in the communities of Texico, NM, and Farwell, TX.
4. Reduce the potential for train versus pedestrian and train versus vehicle crashes.
Eliminate train delays which will improve access on US 60/70/84.
The in-person public meetings will be conducted in English. Headsets will be available at both meetings for those needing simultaneous Spanish translation services.
