NM 31 and US 285 roadway rehabilitation project
EDDY COUNTY – The New Mexico Department of Transportation District Two office in cooperation with Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) has begun a roadway rehabilitation that consist of the realignment of NM 31 intersection with US 285, mill and inlay, 4-way traffic signalizing, lighting, and new railroad crossing on NM 31. This project was awarded in the amount of $19.155 million and is expected to be complete by late July 2025, weather permitting.
Drivers can expect a lane closure of both northbound and southbound inside lanes on US 285 for paving operations. The hours of operation are from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly and expect some delays as traffic patterns shift during construction phases. Motorists are advised to use caution, observe all signs, and to reduce speed.
