New Mexico Department of Transportation seeks public input on Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan survey

SANTA FE The New Mexico Department of Transportation is seeking public input on the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan survey.  Webinars were recently completed for all six districts and the surveys will remain available for public input until Wednesday, June 22, 2022.  The survey can be found at www.dot.nm.gov/nevi/.  Input will be used to collect feedback on electric vehicle infrastructure needs and possible locations.

The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program was created to provide funding to states to strategically deploy electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and establish an interconnected network. These historic investments in EV charging infrastructure will put the United States on a path to a nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers by 2030 and ensure a convenient, reliable, affordable, and equitable charging experience for all users.

New Mexico expects to receive approximately $38 million from this program over five years from the US Department of Transportation (DOT). These funds will be used to install EV charging infrastructure with a priority on interstate highway locations. NMDOT must develop a Statewide Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan to be eligible for this unprecedented investment. Help NMDOT create a robust plan that meets the needs of all New Mexicans, by taking the survey.
