THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING!
On June 17, 2026, the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) hosted an in-person public meeting in Cuba, New Mexico to discuss the US 550 Wildlife Vehicle Collision Mitigation Project: Phases 1 and 2. At the meeting, the project team shared the designs in development to receive input.
The project is designed to improve safety for both drivers and wildlife by reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions and improving wildlife movement across the highway northwest of Cuba, New Mexico. Planned improvements include wildlife crossing structures, 8-ft tall game fencing, and other features that help animals safely cross US 550. The overall project is divided into four phases, with designs for Phases 1 and 2 under development now.
