DESCRIPTION:STATEWIDE\, NM – The New Mexico Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Division (NMDOT TSD) and Safer New Mexico Now (Safer) will host statewide in-person Car Seat Inspection Clinics from 9 a.m. to 11:00 am\, Saturday\, September 27\, 2025\, in celebration of National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week\, September 21-27. The car seat events are part of the National Seat Check Saturday\, which concludes the awareness week. \nThe locations are: \nAlbuquerque (Northeast) \nKohl’s Parking Lot \n6800 Holly Avenue NE \nAlbuquerque (Southeast) \nBernalillo County Fire Rescue Station #38 \n3610 Prince Street SE \nClovis \nThe Java Loft \n10 E. 21st Street \nFarmington \nJC Penny Parking Lot\, Animas Mall \n4601 E. Main Street \nLas Cruces \nElks Lodge #1119 \n3000 Elks Dr. \nLos Lunas \nLos Lunas Middle School \n423 Main St. NE \nRio Rancho \nTarget Parking Lot \n4225 Crestview Drive SE \nSanta Fe \nKohl’s Parking Lot \n4401 Cerrillos Rd. \nTaos \nTaos Middle School \n235 Paseo Del Canon E. \n  \nThese free educational events provide parents and caregivers instruction on the proper selection\, installation and use of their car seats from nationally certified child passenger safety technicians. Technicians will spend approximately 30 minutes per seat educating parents on the proper selection\, installation\, and use of their car and booster seats. Parents and caregivers will also learn important information regarding common errors in car seat safety and be able to ask questions. If a technician determines a car seat to be recalled\, expired\, or otherwise unsafe\, replacement seats will be available.\nTo participate in the Car Seat Inspection Clinics\, parents and caregivers should bring their car seat\, car seat manual\, vehicle manual\, and the child should be present if possible. Car seat inspections are first come first served and appointments are not necessary.\nCar Seat Inspection Clinics are a free public service funded by the New Mexico Department Of Transportation: Traffic Safety Division and are available to everyone. The child must be present to be considered for a seat replacement. A $35 seat replacement fee may apply.
