SUMMARY:In-Person Car Seat Inspection to be Held in Albuquerque
DESCRIPTION:ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Division (NMDOT TSD) and Safer New Mexico Now (Safer) will host an in-person Car Seat Inspection Clinic from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.\, Wednesday\, March 13\, 2024\, at the Sandia Resort and Casino\, 30 Rainbow Road\, in Albuquerque. The clinic will take place in the southeast parking lot between C6 and C8. This free educational event provides parents and caregivers instruction on the proper selection\, installation\, and use of their car seats from nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs). \nAt the event\, CPSTs will spend approximately 30 minutes per seat educating parents on the proper use of their car and booster seats. Parents and caregivers will also learn important information regarding common errors in car seat safety and be able to ask questions. If a technician determines a car seat to be recalled\, expired\, or otherwise unsafe\, replacement seats will be available. \nThe clinic is being held in conjunction with the annual Buckle Up New Mexico Recertification Training Conference\, a two-day event that brings together local\, state\, and national child passenger safety experts to share industry best practices and provide education to support traffic safety and occupant protection programs throughout New Mexico. The conference gives technicians the opportunity to learn about important topics related to car seats and traffic safety. \nTo participate in the Car Seat Inspection Clinic\, parents and caregivers should bring their car seat\, car seat manual\, vehicle manual\, and the child should be present if possible. The event is by appointment only. Please call 505-856-6143 to schedule. \nCar Seat Inspection Clinics are a free public service funded by the NMDOT TSD and are available to everyone.
