DESCRIPTION:ESPANOLA\, NM – The New Mexico Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Division (NMDOT TSD) and Safer New Mexico Now (Safer) will host a free Car Seat Inspection Clinic from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM\, Friday\, September 18\, 2026\, at the Santa Clara Pueblo Social Services\, 402 State Rd. 30\, in Espanola\, NM. \nThis free educational event provides parents and caregivers instruction on the proper selection\, installation and use of their car seats from nationally certified child passenger safety technicians. Technicians will spend approximately 30 minutes per seat educating parents on the proper selection\, installation\, and use of their car and booster seats. Parents and caregivers will also learn important information regarding common errors in car seat safety and be able to ask questions. If a technician determines a car seat to be recalled\, expired\, or otherwise unsafe\, replacement seats will be available.\nTo participate in the Car Seat Inspection Clinic\, parents and caregivers should bring their car seat\, car seat manual\, vehicle manual\, and the child should be present if possible. Car seat inspections are first come first served and appointments are not necessary.\nCar Seat Inspection Clinics are a free public service funded by the New Mexico Department Of Transportation: Traffic Safety Division and are available to everyone. The child must be present to be considered for a seat replacement. A $35 seat replacement fee may apply. SUMMARY:Transportation Commission Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The department holds several STC meetings each year. One held in each of the six department districts. Commissioners are appointed by the Governor\, and each serves a regional area of the state. The Transportation Commission sets department policy and oversees the use of the State Road Fund. As an oversight group\, each of the commissioners bring unique private industry experiences that provide department managers with insight and expertise for the betterment of New Mexico’s transportation system. The six-member\, governor-appointed STC determines policy for the NMDOT.
